
- The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has called on the Federal Government to prevent state governments proposing new universities from accessing the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for a minimum of 10 years.
- The union argues that this measure is necessary to address the deteriorating condition of state-owned universities in Nigeria.
- ASUU also demanded that owners of proposed universities—whether federal or state—must provide a verifiable growth plan showing they can fund at least 75 percent of their pensionable staff complement and provide the required infrastructural facilities.
