- The Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) has called on the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) to embrace peace, asserting that the union is here to stay.
- In a statement released in Lagos, ASUSS National President Mr Samuel Omaji and Secretary-General Mr Sola Adigun responded to NUT’s claim that ASUSS is not and can never be a trade union in Nigeria, describing the position as laughable.
- According to the ASUSS leaders, the NUT has lost control over secondary school teachers in at least 25 of Nigeria’s 36 states and lacks the constitutional authority to determine ASUSS’s existence.
