- The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has proposed a new policy that could restrict foreign students, including Nigerians, to a maximum admission period of two years.
- This move, published in the US federal register and scheduled for announcement on Friday, targets students from countries with high visa overstay rates and those on the US State Sponsor of Terrorism list.
- This development comes just months after a failed July plan to strip international students of their visas if they were not required to attend in-person classes during the COVID-19 lockdown.
