
- The Sokoto State government has approved the merger of boarding schools located in its border towns, effective Friday, 8 January 2021, as a security measure to protect students and staff.
- A statement from the Public Relations Officer of the State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, Nura Bello Maikwanci, confirmed that Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal authorised the merger of the affected schools with other boarding schools situated in more secure towns.
- The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr Muhammad Bello Abubakar Guiwa, added that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth transition.
