- The decision comes nearly six months after the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, left office without a substantive replacement due to controversies surrounding the appointment process.
- Governor Sanwo-Olu, who is also the Visitor to LASU, acted after reviewing the report of the Special Visitation Panel on the appointment of the 9th Vice-Chancellor.
