- A human rights group, Prison Inmate Development Initiative (PIDI-Nigeria), has formally petitioned Nigeria's Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, over the dismissal of Dr Idris Abdullahi, a lecturer at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi.
- The group alleges that Dr Abdullahi was unfairly dismissed for exposing alleged irregularities in the awarding of multiple bachelor's degrees to a single student.
- The petition, signed by PIDI's Human Rights Defender Olayele Awujoola on behalf of the Executive Director, faults the university's decision, describing it as arbitrary.
