- Public primary school teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have refused to resume classes despite the government’s announcement that schools would reopen.
- The teachers, under the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), began an indefinite strike on 12 October 2020 — the first scheduled reopening since March, when schools were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- The strike is aimed at forcing the implementation of the new minimum wage in their salary scale.
