2025-05-17AAU COMMENDS JAMB REGISTRAR FOR INTEGRITY AND TRANSPARENCY IN UTME ERROR ADMISSION
The Association of African Universities (AAU) has officially praised the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) , Is-haq Oloyede , for his courageous admission of errors regarding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. In a letter signed by the AAU’s Secretary General, Professor Olusola Oyewole , the association lauded Mr. Oloyede’s actions as a remarkable display of integrity , humility , and exemplary public service . The AAU highlighted that Mr. Oloyede’s assumption of responsibility and his empathy towards affected candidates have significantly restored confidence in the integrity of institutions, effectively elevating standards of public leadership in both Nigeria and Africa at large. The letter emphasized that Mr. Oloyede embodies ethical leadership in its most genuine form. “The humility and remorse you expressed publicly, along with your commitment to addressing challenges transparently, are truly commendable,” the letter states. “Indeed, your actions are a breath of fresh air in a system where accountability is often elusive.” Concluding the letter, the AAU expressed immense pride in Mr. Oloyede, celebrating him as a model of excellence , integrity , and transformational leadership within the realms of African higher education and governance. 2025-05-21JAMB to Announce 2025 Rescheduled UTME Results Tomorrow
In a crucial update for aspiring university students, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to release the results of the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10 AM. The announcement comes after a significant number of candidates—379,997 in total—retook the examination due to technical issues that marred the initial assessment held from April 24, 2025. The affected candidates hail from six states, including five from the South East geopolitical zone and Lagos from the South West. JAMB acknowledged its responsibility for the mass failure that occurred during the initial UTME, attributing the mishap to errors by its technical staff. In a heartfelt press conference, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, publicly apologized to the candidates affected by the disruption. He expressed his understanding of the frustration and disappointment experienced by students and assured them that the board is committed to learning from this experience. “I understand that there are three powerful expressions: please, thank you, and I am sorry. I apologize and take full responsibility,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of accountability. The states involved in the retake include Lagos, Imo, Anambra, Oyo, Abia, and Ebonyi. Oloyede revealed that 65 centers in Lagos and 92 centers across the South East would facilitate the retake. He acknowledged the public's concern over the mass failure and reiterated that JAMB would use this incident as a learning opportunity to improve its processes. Despite the challenges faced, Oloyede expressed gratitude for the public's engagement, noting that the feedback received was vital for the board's growth. He stated, “We appreciate all those who voiced their concerns because it shows that you care. This incident, while regrettable, has highlighted the need for us to remain vigilant and responsive.” As the results are set to be released tomorrow, candidates and their families await the outcome with anticipation. This moment not only represents a second chance for the affected students but also a pivotal point for JAMB as it seeks to restore its reputation and regain the trust of the public.
