Focus Attention & Manage Cognitive Load Short, focused sessions beat marathon cramming. Aim for 40–60 minute blocks with clear goals. Remove distractions, single-task, and take short breaks to reset attention. Reducing cognitive load helps you encode information deeply — essential for effective exam preparation. Improve Encoding with Deep Processing Stop passive rereading and highlighting. Use self-explanation, teach a peer, or summarise from memory. Connecting ideas and explaining concepts strengthens understanding and retention — a core study technique for high-stakes exams like JAMB UTME.
