How to prepare for Post UTME: Best tips to score high (300+)

Preparing for the Post UTME screening is a critical step in securing your admission into your preferred tertiary institution. While passing the UTME is a significant achievement, it does not guarantee your place in the academic journey. Since its introduction in 2005, the Post UTME has served as an essential filter to ensure that only the most qualified candidates gain admission. To help you stand out, we’ve compiled effective strategies that will enhance your preparation and boost your confidence during the exam. What You Need to Know About Post UTME Screening The Post UTME is primarily a computer-based test (CBT) that draws questions from previous UTME and Post UTME exams. This means that familiarizing yourself with past questions is one of the best ways to prepare. Dedicating at least six hours a day to study in the week leading up to your exam can make a significant difference, ensuring you are well-prepared and confident. Top Tips for Effective Post UTME Preparation 1. Arrive Early at Your Institution Plan to be at your school a day or two before the exam. This allows you to acclimate to the environment and reduces pre-exam anxiety. Familiarizing yourself with the examination venue can help you feel more at ease on the day of the test. 2. Practice Computer-Based Tests (CBT) If you’re new to computer-based testing, practice is crucial. Utilize online platforms that offer CBT simulations to familiarize yourself with the exam format and reduce the likelihood of technical issues on test day. 3. Start with Your Strongest Subject Tackle the subjects you feel most confident in first. This strategy can help you build momentum and confidence as you accumulate marks early in the exam. 4. Engage in Group Discussions Collaborating with fellow candidates can enhance your understanding of key topics. Group discussions provide an opportunity to exchange ideas, clarify doubts, and reinforce your knowledge through collective learning. 5. Read Instructions Carefully Take the time to read and understand all instructions before starting the exam. Many candidates lose valuable marks due to simple mistakes from not following the guidelines. 6. Utilize the Right Study Materials Invest in past question manuals and mock tests to aid your preparation. Regular practice with these materials, combined with a consistent study schedule, is vital for success. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - Is it important to practice CBT trials? Yes, especially for first-time test-takers, as this helps you become comfortable with the exam format. - What’s the best way to prepare for Post UTME? Focus on studying past questions, practicing with CBT platforms, and maintaining a consistent study routine. - How early should I arrive at the exam venue? Aim to arrive at least one or two days in advance to reduce stress and familiarize yourself with the environment. - Can group discussions aid in preparation? Absolutely! They are a great way to share insights and clarify any uncertainties. - How can I achieve a high score in Post UTME? Consistent practice with past questions, starting with your strongest subjects, and carefully reading instructions can significantly enhance your score. Conclusion A well-structured preparation plan is essential for excelling in the Post UTME screening. From arriving early to leveraging group discussions and practicing diligently, each step contributes to your success. Remember, with focus and determination, you can achieve the results you desire. JAMB to Announce 2025 Rescheduled UTME Results Tomorrow

In a crucial update for aspiring university students, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to release the results of the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) tomorrow, Wednesday, at 10 AM. The announcement comes after a significant number of candidates—379,997 in total—retook the examination due to technical issues that marred the initial assessment held from April 24, 2025. The affected candidates hail from six states, including five from the South East geopolitical zone and Lagos from the South West. JAMB acknowledged its responsibility for the mass failure that occurred during the initial UTME, attributing the mishap to errors by its technical staff. In a heartfelt press conference, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, publicly apologized to the candidates affected by the disruption. He expressed his understanding of the frustration and disappointment experienced by students and assured them that the board is committed to learning from this experience. “I understand that there are three powerful expressions: please, thank you, and I am sorry. I apologize and take full responsibility,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of accountability. The states involved in the retake include Lagos, Imo, Anambra, Oyo, Abia, and Ebonyi. Oloyede revealed that 65 centers in Lagos and 92 centers across the South East would facilitate the retake. He acknowledged the public's concern over the mass failure and reiterated that JAMB would use this incident as a learning opportunity to improve its processes. Despite the challenges faced, Oloyede expressed gratitude for the public's engagement, noting that the feedback received was vital for the board's growth. He stated, “We appreciate all those who voiced their concerns because it shows that you care. This incident, while regrettable, has highlighted the need for us to remain vigilant and responsive.” As the results are set to be released tomorrow, candidates and their families await the outcome with anticipation. This moment not only represents a second chance for the affected students but also a pivotal point for JAMB as it seeks to restore its reputation and regain the trust of the public.
