Continue readingLagos State Hears from Civil Service Commission on Teacher Recruitment Over 50,000 individuals applied for 1,000 teaching positions announced by the Lagos State Government in 2019. Suru Avoseh, a member of the Lagos State Civil Service Commission, disclosed this information during a New Year Party organized by the Badagry Women Development Forum in Badagry. The Lagos State Government had previously announced plans on November 11 to recruit one thousand teachers for public secondary schools across the state. Mr. Avoseh stated that some qualified applicants have already been invited to sit for an examination. Selection Process Underway Following the examination, candidates who pass and meet the required standards will proceed to oral interviews. Mr. Avoseh confirmed that some successful candidates are already receiving text messages via their phone numbers. He emphasized that not all applicants will be employed, nor will everyone who passes the examination be guaranteed a job. Broader Employment Initiatives The Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Civil Service Commission are also preparing to commence recruitments soon. Mr. Avoseh indicated that all necessary steps are being taken, and discussions have been held with the Head of Service. A staff auditing exercise is currently underway to determine the exact number of vacancies to be filled. Employment figures will be communicated to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu after the audit is completed, allowing preparations for employment to be finalized. Call for Women in Politics Separately, Mr. Avoseh encouraged women in Badagry to increase their participation in politics, stressing its importance for the city's development. He urged them to assert their right to contest for any political office they choose. Guidance for Women on Child-Rearing Mrs. Funmilola Olajide, Director at the Lagos State Office of Special Education, advised women to foster close relationships with their children, acting as best friends. She believes this approach encourages children to share their experiences and challenges. Olajide stressed the importance of creating time for children to ensure they feel safe to report any abuse. She warned against leaving children under the care of relatives or friends, as these individuals could potentially pose a risk. She concluded by advising parents to make their children feel comfortable and secure at home. Candidates who have not yet uploaded their O’Level results to the UNN and JAMB portals are required to do so immediately. Key Instructions for Candidates: The registrar, Dr. Mrs. C. N. Nnebedum, emphasized the following categories of students who must upload their results: - Students wishing to replace WAEC results with NECO results. - Candidates who want to combine WAEC and NECO results. - Those who initially marked their result status as Awaiting Results (AR) and now wish to upload their actual WAEC or NECO results. The deadline for uploading results is September 22, 2025, by midnight , to ensure a smooth admission process in line with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board's (JAMB) guidelines before October 31, 2025.
